Charleston County School District offers an extension on the review of instructional materials

Who: Community members interested in reviewing textbooks available for adoption in Charleston County School District.

What: The South Carolina Department of Education finalized the list of instructional materials available for adoption in schools across South Carolina.

Charleston County School District wants to ensure community members, as well as teachers, have adequate time to review materials. Therefore, they are extending the opportunity for community members to review materials until February 8, 2016. The CCSD Board of Trustees invites our community to participate in a public review of materials available for the following curriculum areas:

Social Studies Science:
-K-5 Social Studies
-US Government
-Citizenship – Civics
-Western Civilization
-Human Geography, AP

Science:
-K-5 Science Textbooks
-Various K-8 Science Kits
-Biology 1, 2, AP, IB*

Career and Technology Courses:
-Computer Applications
-Integrated Business Applications 1, 2
-Family and Consumer Science

The intent of this annual Instructional Materials Public Review is to give citizens the opportunity to review proposed instructional materials and submit comments that will be considered by the CCSD Board of Trustees to determine which materials should be made available to the students in our district.

When: 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, and Thursday, February 4, 2016, at the St. Andrews Professional Learning Center, 721 Wappoo Road, Charleston, SC 29407.
