Experienced environmental law, toxic tort and product liability litigation attorney Yancey McLeod III is the newest member of the Womble Bond Dickinson team. McLeod has joined the firm’s Charleston office as a Partner.

McLeod’s toxic tort experience includes defending companies in high-stakes asbestos and benzene exposure personal injury cases. He also represents companies in related environmental litigation and compliance, including guiding them in CERCLA, South Carolina Brownfields Program, underground storage tank, and environmental remediation matters. In addition, McLeod counsels companies in compliance and risk assessment issues related to buying and selling remediated and contaminated properties.

McLeod’s litigation experience includes defending companies in personal injury cases, including motor vehicle collisions and slip and fall litigation, as well as litigating construction defect and product defect claims. He has represented national insurance companies in insurance coverage litigation.

“Product liability and mass torts litigation have been a strength of Womble Bond Dickinson for decades. Yancey is joining a team of more than 80 attorneys that defends clients in complex litigation across the country,” said Chris Douglas, Womble Bond Dickinson’s Mass Torts Practice Group Leader. “We feel certain Yancey will be a great addition to our team, and we look forward to helping him provide his clients with outstanding service.”

“Yancey’s years of experience in defending clients at all levels of asbestos litigation is a substantial additional to our toxic tort team. Bringing on Yancey means that Womble Bond Dickinson now has more trial lawyers who have tried asbestos cases in South Carolina in this century than any other defense firm in the country. We are excited about the opportunities this brings both for the current clients of Yancey and the firm and our ability to attract new clients,” said Womble Bond Dickinson Environmental and Mass Torts Litigation Partner Elizabeth O’Neill.

Womble Bond Dickinson Charleston Office Managing Partner Jim Myrick said, “Yancey is well-known as a skilled toxic torts and product liability litigator here in the Charleston legal community. We were familiar with—and impressed by—his work, and we are happy to have him on the Womble Bond Dickinson team.”

McLeod comes to Womble Bond Dickinson from Bouch McLeod LLC, a Charleston law firm he co-founded.

He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina (BS in biology) and the Charleston School of Law. In addition, he holds a Masters of Studies in Environmental Laws from the Vermont Law School.
