Charleston Habitat & Wells Fargo team up for Welcome Home initiative in South Carolina

September 26, 2022

Wells Fargo employees, in partnership with Charleston Habitat for Humanity, helped build a home on Saturday, Sept. 24, for a local resident in the Chicora-Cherokee neighborhood in North Charleston. Wells Fargo leaders also presented a $15,000 grant to Charleston Habitat for Humanity to support the construction of the home.

The volunteer efforts and grant presentation come as part of Wells Fargo’s Welcome Home initiative, whereby Wells Fargo employees across the country are working with local charities to make an impact in the company foundation’s funding priority, housing affordability. Across South Carolina, Wells Fargo employees are partnering with Habitat for Humanity affiliates throughout the month of September to participate in several volunteer events like this one in North Charleston.

In addition, Wells Fargo has committed significant philanthropic resources to develop solutions that increase the supply of homes that are affordable and support families in realizing the dream of homeownership and opportunities for building wealth. In 2022, Wells Fargo announced $9 million in grant funding to support new home construction, renovation, and repair of more than 450 affordable homes across the U.S. in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together.
