Charleston Digital (CDC) announced that the Charleston Learning Center is partnering with Google to provide residents of the Tri-County area with scholarships for Google Career Certificates in seven high-demand career paths. These include:
- AI Essentials
- Cybersecurity

With the majority of new jobs created since 2010 requiring medium to high-level digital skills, there is a growing gap in workforce readiness. Currently, one in three American workers has limited to no digital skills. The Google Career Certificates program aims to address this gap by preparing individuals for careers in high-growth industries. The self-paced courses, offered online through Coursera, can be completed in three to six months and do not require prior experience.
Although the program already includes an employer consortium of over 150 companies — such as Walmart, Verizon, and Google — Charleston Digital plans to identify and engage employers across Berkeley, Dorchester, and Charleston counties who are actively seeking talent with digital expertise.
“Investing in a skilled workforce helps support today’s job needs and also builds a stronger workforce for the future. Google is proud to partner with Charleston Digital to drive innovation, growth, and opportunity across the Lowcountry,” said Amber Tillman, Google’s Head of Data Center Public Affairs.
“We are honored Google has selected the Charleston Learning Center to bring the Google Career Certificates to our community,” said Charleston Digital Executive Director, Ernest Andrade. “I am confident that individuals successfully completing these certificates will enjoy better employment and economic outcomes.”
Individuals interested in the Google Career Certificates program are encouraged to attend an Open House at the Charleston Learning Center on June 25th at 12:00 p.m. or visit charlestonlc.org/certificates for more information.
