Charleston Legal Access Executive Director Lana Kleiman to step down after seven years of leadership
October 9, 2025After seven years of dedicated service, Charleston Legal Access (CLA) Executive Director Lana Kleiman has announced she will step down in the coming months to spend time with family and pursue new opportunities.
During her tenure, Kleiman guided the nonprofit through a period of significant growth, expanding access to affordable legal services for low-income and middle-class families across the Lowcountry. Under her leadership, CLA launched a dedicated immigration practice and deepened its impact throughout the Tri-County area.
“Our community is deeply grateful for Lana’s vision and tireless commitment to bridging the justice gap for working families,” CLA’s board said in a statement. “Her leadership has strengthened the organization and positioned it for continued success.”
The Board of Directors has begun a formal search for CLA’s next executive director. Kleiman will remain in her role until new leadership is in place to ensure a smooth transition. In the meantime, the organization’s staff will continue providing uninterrupted legal services to clients.
With a strong foundation built under Kleiman’s leadership, Charleston Legal Access remains committed to its mission of ensuring that all members of the community—regardless of income—have access to justice.
