Charleston mayoral forum Sept. 27th to draw a large turnout

September 25, 2019

All six Charleston mayoral candidates will participate in a forum at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2019, at Seacoast Church – West Ashley Campus, located at 2049 Savannah Highway, 29407. Moderators for the forum will be Carolyn Murray, WCBD TV-2 news anchor and Robert Behre, Post and Courier reporter. The moderators will open the forum with their questions for the candidates, followed by questions from the audience. Sponsored by West Ashley Democrats, the forum is open to the general public.

Candidates will include incumbent Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg, Charleston City Councilman Mike Seekings, Charleston City Councilman Gary White, former Charleston City Councilman Maurice Washington, West Ashley resident Sheri Irwin, and James Island resident Michelle Renee Orth.

Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Each mayoral campaign has been invited to set-up and staff their own table of campaign information in the foyer area of the Church prior to and during the Forum. Also in the foyer, West Ashley Democrats will staff a table where persons arriving to the Forum will be invited to submit questions that will be posed to the candidates during the audience Q&A portion of the Forum.

West Ashley Democrats does not endorse any particular candidate for Charleston mayor in the non-partisan election set for Tuesday, November 5.“We’re expecting a large turnout for the Mayoral Forum as interest grows in this pivotal election,” said West Ashley Democrats Co-Chair Harold Whack.

Ample parking is available in the Seacoast Churchparking area directly in front of the church.
