Charleston Metro Chamber announces launch of Civic Leaders Academy

The Charleston Metro Chamber has announced the launch of their Civic Leaders Academy. In partnership with Charleston Trident Association of Realtors and Charleston Home Builders Association, this advanced and informative public service training program is designed to identify, cultivate and train individuals from across our region to both run for public office and serve on appointed boards and commissions.
In three half-day sessions with regional and national experts, participants will gain insight on campaign fundraising and budgeting, develop a deeper understanding of polling and data-driven decision making and enhance their knowledge of what is expected from a civic leader.
“We are extremely excited to offer this new program to our community members,” said Bryan Derreberry, President and CEO for the Charleston Metro Chamber. “Civic Leaders Academy will equip those who are interested in getting involved with local or state government to gain a deeper understanding of our region’s critical issues, learn valuable tools for their future political or board aspirations and build incredible connections with fellow leaders in our community.”
An ideal candidate for this program has a desire to serve on a board, commission, county council, city council or in the state house/senate and is eager to learn about government’s role in community development, economic prosperity, transportation and infrastructure.
Applications are currently open for this program and the deadline to submit your application is Friday, April 15.
