Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce Announces New Position Appointments

CHARLESTON, SC – Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce recent staff promotions and new positions. Suzi Raiford has been named Education Initiatives Director; Robin Willis is the Business Partnerships Manager; Monet McCarus has been promoted to Senior Business Development Executive.

Suzi Raiford, Education Initiatives Director & Regional Career Specialist, Business Advocacy

unnamedAs the Education Initiatives Director & Regional Career Specialist, Suzi Raiford works to provide career-related professional development for educators and students in the region’s public school districts through career exploration and industry knowledge. She assists in the development of Career Academies in high schools and manages educational grant initiatives and responsibilities.

An eleven year veteran of the Chamber, Raiford was previously the Professional Development Director and Trident Regional Career Specialist, as well as the Program Director for The Education Foundation. Her first position with the Chamber was in 1992 as an administrative assistant.

Suzi worked as the Director of Donor Relations for The Citadel Development Foundation and has worked for the Charleston County School District. She possesses a Masters of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, both from the College of Charleston.

 

 

 

 

Robin Willis, Business Partnerships Manager, Business Advocacy

unnamed-1Robin Willis is the Business Partnerships Manager, working in the Chamber’s Business Advocacy division. She is responsible for connecting and nurturing relationships between Chamber member organizations and public high schools’ Career Academies, so that they can integrate into the curriculum and instruction to produce career-ready graduates. Willis’ work includes forming and working with advisory boards, managing meetings between schools and business partners, teaching partners methods of classroom learning and helping school administrators in pathways to learning.

Prior to joining the Chamber Robin was with the Ronald McDonald House, working as a Project Manager of the Anti-Microbial Copper Project for three years, and as House Manager for two years. Originally from Rome, Georgia, Robin attended the University of Georgia and now resides in Mt. Pleasant.

 

 

 

 

 

Monet McCarus, Senior Business Development Executive

unnamed-2Monet McCarus was recently promoted to Senior Business Development Executive. She began working with the Chamber in March of 2012 as a Business Development Executive and earned her promotion with proven success and qualified production in the sales position.

Prior to joining the Chamber Monet worked as a Business Account Executive for Knology and as a Local Sales Account Executive for the Sinclair Broadcast Group.

 

Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, McCarus is a graduate of The Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where she studied classical music, played piano and violin and sang. She is a graduate of the College of Charleston, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and is currently taking additional classes there. When not at work or in class, Monet is a volunteer for Pet Helpers. She resides on James Island.
