Charleston Metro Chamber unveils art installation to commemorate 250 years

January 26, 2023

This year marks the 250th anniversary of the Charleston Metro Chamber. The Chamber has been convening businesses, governments, civic organizations and citizens to collectively respond to our region’s greatest opportunities, and most pressing challenges, since three years before the founding of our country. Exercising this leader charge for that tenure makes them the longest continually-operating Chamber in the nation.

At the outset of the anniversary year, the Chamber created and installed an iconic piece of artwork in their headquarters. This piece is designed to thank every volunteer and member who has supported them, since their inception. In collaboration with LS3P Associates Ltd., and other design partners, a commemorative Angel Oak design was selected to portray the history and impact of the Chamber.

The design, centered around the region’s longest living live oak tree – the Angel Oak, pays homage to the deep-rooted history of the Charleston Metro Chamber and the significant role it has played in the Lowcountry’s progress. It speaks to the constant evolution of the community and the Chamber’s ongoing, daily mission to enhance a prosperous business environment.

The Charleston Metro Chamber plans to continue to honor and learn from their last 250 years, while proactively focusing on initiating, advocating and empowering our region to ready itself for the next 50 years of prosperity.
