Celebrate Labor Day Weekend while giving back at the ballpark. The RiverDogs Alzheimer’s Awareness Night will take place on Sunday, September 1 at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park in downtown Charleston. The game against the Greenville Drive will give a percentage of proceeds to the Alzheimer’s Association. Only tickets purchased using the code “PURPLE” will benefit the association.

To purchase tickets that will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, click www.riverdogs.com/groups and insert code PURPLE. Wear purple to show your support for Alzheimer’s research.

Alice’s Clubhouse and the Charleston RiverDogs conceived the idea of the benefit to increase awareness of the disease and spotlight resources that can help.

Alice’s Clubhouse, the first medical-model memory care day center in the Lowcountry, allows those struggling with the disease to live at home longer and be more stimulated socially and cognitively, while at the same time helping their caregivers maintain their own lives and health.

“It’s fantastic that the RiverDogs are so supportive of charities in the Lowcountry,” said David AvRutick, Alice’s Clubhouse founder. “We’re excited to work with them to help raise awareness about Alzheimer’s and raise money to combat this awful disease.” AvRutick will throw out the first pitch of the game.

Presenting sponsors include MUSC Health, Y102.5 (iHeart), ABC News 4 and Charleston County Parks and Recreation.

The September 1 game is the second-to-last of the season and is on MUSC Health Family Sunday, meaning kids eat free, run the bases after the game and parking is free.
