Christmas comes early to Georgetown: Free book sale & holiday giveaway at this Saturday’s Growers Market

June 30, 2026

Get ready for some festive cheer in the middle of summer! This Saturday, July 4th, the Friends of the Georgetown Library are bringing a unique “Christmas in July” celebration to the local Growers Market. From 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, community members are invited to stop by the market (located at the old City Hall complex at the intersection of Front Street and Fraser Street) for an incredible holiday-themed giveaway.

The best part? Everything is completely free. As a special gift to the community, the Friends of the Georgetown Library will be giving away a massive selection of books and holiday items, including:

  • Festive Reads: Christmas-related fiction and non-fiction for both adults and children.

  • Great Gifts: A giant selection of coffee table books perfect for early holiday shopping, alongside standard hardback and paperback fiction, cookbooks, reference books, and children’s literature.

  • Holiday Surprises: Specially donated classic dolls and beautiful Christmas decorations to get a head start on the season’s decorating.

While everything is free for the taking, visitors will have the opportunity to make voluntary financial contributions. All donations collected during the event will directly support the children’s reading programs at the Georgetown Library, helping foster a love of literacy in the community.

Santa’s special helpers, Roger and Nancy, will be on-site to help you find your next great read. While you are there, you can also browse the rest of the vibrant market, which features fresh fruits and vegetables, local cheeses, baked goods, plants, and handmade crafts.

Don’t miss out on this wonderful chance to stock your bookshelves, pick up some holiday decor, and support local library programs!
