Members of The Citadel Class of 1967 along with other college leaders and dignitaries, dedicated The Citadel War Memorial at a ceremony on the Charleston, South Carolina campus Friday, Oct. 27. The memorial honors Citadel alumni who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country in conflicts beginning with the Mexican War in 1845, though the War on Terror. It is the vision of the class of ’67 which celebrates its 50threunion beginning on the same day that Homecoming Weekend gets underway.

“The Citadel is a very special place, providing this nation with great warriors for 175 years. Those we are dedicating this memorial to on this hallowed ground, epitomize everything this institution teaches us and what The Citadel stands for. This memorial is a permanent and visual symbol of the type of individual this institution produces. It forever lets all who see it know that Citadel alumni have, and will continue to stand for something larger than any individual. We stand for our core values of honor, duty, and respect, and service to the people of this great nation, in all walks of life, no matter the cost.” Captain Geno Paluso, USN (Retired), Commandant of Cadets for The Citadel.
