March 7, 2011

CHARLESTON, SC – March 7, 2011 – Photographer recognized Citadel Photographer Russell K. Pace was a CASE III Awards Program Grand Award Finalist in two photography categories, Photo Essay & Series and Photography. Pace’s work was recognized at the CASE banquet Feb. 22 in New Orleans.

Pace, a resident of Summerville and a graduate of Hanahan High School, has been at The Citadel for 25 years. He has photographed more than 600 dress parades, and his award winning pictures tell The Citadel story in a way words cannot. “Inside Lesesne Gate,” Pace’s photo series, appeared in the 2010 issue of The Citadel magazine. A photo from that series depicting three freshmen cadets holding hands was recognized in the photography category.

In their analysis of Pace’s photo series, the CASE judges wrote, “The candids were beautifully captured, the staged shots were well composed, and others made the judges want to know
more about The Citadel. The photographs were successful in speaking to a consistent visual identity for the school.”
