City Council approves the installation of T2 Cosmo Pay Stations on Main Street

During this evening’s City Council Meeting, City Council approved the installation of twelve (12) T2 Cosmo Pay Stations on Main Street (Item #3). This project directly correlates to the City of Columbia’s vision to reinvest into the parking system with upgraded infrastructure, enhance the customer experience and beautify our downtown hospitality districts.
Installation of the pay stations is set to begin on Monday, February 10, 2025. While this installation occurs, the City of Columbia will be suspending parking enforcement in only metered on-street parking spaces starting on Monday, February 10, 2025 from the 1700 Block on Main St. (Laurel/Main) to the 1200 Block on Main St. (Gervais/Main). Side streets connecting onto Main St., public safety lanes, yellow curbs and bagged metered spaces will still be enforced.
The T2 Cosmo Pay Stations are to be strategically placed down Main St., as one pay station will be located on either side of the street starting from the 1700 Block of Main St. to the 1200 Block of Main St. The pay stations will also be located near the middle of the street, near pedestrian crosswalks, allowing for access that is more convenient.
While installation is being conducted, portions of the pedestrian sidewalk may be blocked during weekdays (Monday-Friday) from 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. As work is completed for each pay station, portions of the sidewalk will open back once it is safe to do so.

The T2 Cosmo Pay Station is a sleek multi-space kiosk designed for on-street public parking. Cosmo, short for “cosmopolitan,” denotes its viability to high pedestrian traffic in urban environments. These modern pay stations replace parking meters in our highly trafficked hospitality districts throughout downtown Columbia, which will reduce sidewalk clutter and improve the beautification of streetscapes for both residents and visitors.
How to use the machine:
- Visit the pay station
- Enter your license plate number
- Enter your desired length of stay
- Insert your credit card and finish transaction
- Retrieve your receipt for proof of payment
