The City Manager’s Spotlight provides details about what is happening in the City of Columbia in an effort to keep citizens informed about City operations. The City Manager’s Spotlight on January 2016 reflects important initiatives that will highlight major projects in the City of Columbia. Here is a snapshot of the January Spotlight.

 

CITY TO INTRODUCE “BANK ON” COLUMBIA

“Bank On” Columbia is a new program that will provide Columbia’s un-banked and under-banked citizens access to low-to-no cost checking and savings accounts. The program aims to promote financial stability by going out to communities and neighborhoods to inform citizens about the products that partnering financial institutions are offering in addition to the “Start Fresh” financial education workshops.

WHO: Mayor Steve Benjamin, Columbia City Council members, Community Development Department staff, FDIC representatives, BB&T, South State Bank and TD Bank

WHEN: Wednesday, January 13 at 9 a.m.

“START FRESH” FINANCIAL LITERACY EDUCATION WORKSHOP SERIES

The City of Columbia’s Community Development Department will hold three free financial education workshops. During the workshops participants will learn the importance of banking, budgeting, saving, building credit and homeownership.

WHERE: Earlewood Park Community Center, 1113 Parkside Drive, Columbia, SC 29203

DATES: January 23, 2016 | January 30, 2016 | February 6, 2016

TIME:  10 AM to 3 PM
