City of Charleston accepting applications for 2024 AmeriCorps VISTA sites

January 17, 2024

The city of Charleston is looking for organizations to host AmeriCorps VISTA members in the 2024-2025 year. AmeriCorps VISTA is a national program focused on fighting poverty. Non-profits and public agencies in the Tri-county area are invited to apply as host sites. If selected, they can bring on an AmeriCorps VISTA member for a full-time, one-year term to build the capacity and sustainability of the host organization.

These VISTA members will help the organization increase its ability to serve clients and the community better.  VISTA members generally do not provide direct services; instead, they strengthen and support organizations by building infrastructure, expanding community partnerships, securing long-term resources, coordinating training for participants, and much more. Non-profit organizations and agencies serving the Tri-County area are eligible to apply to host a member for their term of service.  VISTA members work to eradicate poverty, so all projects must focus on this, and on building capacity for the organization.

How to apply: Application documents are available at this link and must be submitted by Thursday, February 1, at 3 p.m.

Applications can be submitted electronically to [email protected] (preferred), or hand-delivered or mailed to 75 Calhoun Street, Suite 3700 (must be received by the deadline).
