City of Charleston announces FEMA grant approval

After speaking directly with state emergency officials today, the city of Charleston can now confirm that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved a $7,785,715 grant for the mitigation of 36 homes in the West Ashley area, including 32 located within the Bridge Point Townhome Community. The Federal share of this project is $5,839,286, with a 25 percent match of $1,946,429 provided by the city.

Following acquisition and demolition of these structures, the property will be returned to green space in perpetuity.

Sen. Sandy Senn, and S.C. Rep. Lin Bennett, as well as city staff and members of our city council.”
