City of Charleston Recreation Department to offer free summer meals for youth
May 26, 2026The City of Charleston Recreation Department will provide free meals to children and teens this summer through its participation in the Summer Food Service Program.
The program will operate Monday through Friday from June 1 through July 24, 2026, serving free meals to all children 18 years old and younger. Meals will be available daily between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
The Summer Food Service Program helps ensure local youth have access to nutritious meals during the summer months while school is out of session.
Meals will be served at the following locations:
- Arthur W. Christopher Community Center
- Deming Park
- Martin Park
- Freddie Whaley/Rosemont Park
- Shaw Community Center
- St. Julian Devine Community Center
- Thomas Johnson Park
- Willie Gaines Playground
Please note the program will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026, and Friday, July 3, 2026.
