City of Charleston testing new light timing on Folly Road

April 8, 2025

The City of Charleston’s Department of Traffic and Transportation, in coordination with our traffic engineering consultant AMT, will begin testing new traffic signal timings this weekend along the Folly Road corridor, from Fort Johnson Road to Harbor View Road.

These adjustments are part of an ongoing effort to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow. While the changes are minor and not a permanent solution, they aim to provide some immediate relief to commuters.

This marks the first phase of a larger signal retiming project that will continue throughout 2025, targeting key corridors including Maybank Highway, Folly Road, Wesley Drive, Harbor View Road, and the SC 61 (Fielding) Connector.

We appreciate the community’s patience as our team tests data-driven refinements, and we’re hopeful these updates will lead to noticeable improvements along the Folly Road corridor.
