City of Charleston to host ‘Operation Neighborhood’ in Gadsden Green

Please join Mayor Tecklenburg, Charleston Housing Authority, city leaders, staff and residents for the next Operation Neighborhood cleanup event, which will take place in the Gadsden Green neighborhood from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 20, 2023.

Each quarter, a city neighborhood is chosen, based on need and request, to serve as the venue for an Operation Neighborhood cleanup. Past cleanups were coordinated with Sherwood Forest-Ardmore Neighborhood Association; the Eastside Community Development Corporation; the Forest Neighborhood Coalition and Palmilla Apartments and the Ferguson Village Neighborhood Association.

Operation Neighborhood efforts may include (but are not limited to):

  • Litter cleanup
  • Drain cleaning
  • Graffiti removal
  • Lamp post maintenance
  • Tree planting
  • Street and sidewalk repair
  • Street sweeping
  • Dissemination of information regarding city services
  • Lighting improvements
  • Outreach regarding code enforcement
  • Right-of-way landscape maintenance
  • Engagement with public safety officers
