City of Columbia highlights diabetes and kidney health at 2025 Black Expo – April 22
April 21, 2025The City of Columbia is putting a spotlight on diabetes and kidney wellness at the upcoming 2025 Columbia Black Expo. With the theme “Your Health is Your Wealth,” this year’s event will focus on connecting health awareness to economic opportunity.
Councilman Edward McDowell, Jr. (District II), Columbia Black Expo Director Darrin Thomas, and Dr. Bambi Gaddist of Structural Health Dynamic, LLC, will lead a conversation on the importance of taking control of personal health. They will highlight how chronic conditions like diabetes and kidney disease affect many in the community, especially African American residents in areas with limited access to nutritious food, preventive care, and health education.
The Expo will include on-site health screenings, expert panels, interactive workshops, and resources from local hospitals, nonprofits, wellness programs, and farms. The goal is to provide tools and information that help residents take proactive steps toward better health.
The event will take place Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. on the 3rd floor of City Hall, 1737 Main Street, Columbia.
