City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department’s 2016 Senior Trips Program

COLUMBIA, SC – The City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department invites adults age 50 and older to explore several fun and exciting locations during the 2016 Senior Trips program.

Participants will travel by charter bus to the following locations: 

Cherokee Indian Casino

WHEN: 6 a.m.-9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7 and Tuesday, November 8

FEE: $34 per person

INFO: This single-day trip includes charter bus transportation, gaming credit and a meal voucher.

 

Cape Cod & Martha’s Vineyard

WHEN: Saturday, September 10 through Sunday, September 18

FEE: $719 per person, double occupancy ($50 deposit required; partial payments accepted)

INFO: Discover the charm of the North Eastern U.S. in this 9-day trip. Visit the historic seaside towns of Hyannis, the John F. Kennedy Museum, Martha’s Vineyard and more.  Fee includes 14 meals, lodging and transportation.

Full payment due by Wednesday, June 1

 

Apple picking in Hendersonville, NC

WHEN: Tuesday, September 22

FEE: $34 (does not include cost of meal at local restaurant)

INFO: Pick apples in Hendersonville, NC, and visit the North Carolina State Farmer’s Market during this one-day trip.

 

Senior Beach Retreat (Sponsored by the S.C. Recreation and Parks Association)

WHEN: October 10-13

FEE: $372-$522 (Fee based on room occupancy)

INFO: Join us for four days of fellowship, fun and relaxation at the Springmaid Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach. The fee includes transportation, lodging, meals and activities. Full payment due bySaturday, July 30 (partial payments accepted)

 

National Gingerbread House Competition

WHEN: Tuesday, December 6

FEE: $70 (includes transportation and lunch)

INFO: Enjoy the holidays with a trip to Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC, to view this tasty national competition. Lunch at the historic Grove Park Inn is included.

Full payment deadline to be determined. 

The trip fee includes transportation and admission fees. Unless otherwise noted, meals are considered an extra fee and the responsibility of the participant. Full payment is required at the time of registration. Partial payments are accepted only for multi-day trips (Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard, and Beach Retreat). The charter bus departs from the Charles R. Drew Wellness Center, 2101 Walker Solomon Way, Columbia, SC 29204.

 

Registrations should be submitted no later than three weeks in advance of the day of the trip, unless otherwise noted. Early registration is advised.
