City of Fountain Inn Celebrates Police Chief Hamilton on his Retirement

The City of Fountain Inn commemorated Chief Michael Hamilton’s 31-year career on July 25th, expressing deep gratitude for his dedicated service. Chief Hamilton, who rose through the ranks from Police Sergeant to Police Captain and ultimately became Chief of Police on August 10, 2019, will bid farewell to his position on July 31st, 2023.

During the celebration, Assistant Chief Melissa Woods and a representative from Congressman Jeff Duncan’s office delivered remarks, praising Chief Hamilton’s unwavering commitment to the community and his impact on countless lives. He was also honored with a flag flown over the capital as a symbol of national appreciation for his exceptional service. Mayor GP McLeer delivered a Proclamation to recognize and honor Chief Hamilton. “Chief Hamilton has been a true servant leader and it has been a joy to work with him. His humility, compassion, and eagerness to serve is to be envied.”

Chief Hamilton, in turn, expressed his sincere appreciation for the privilege of serving Fountain Inn, acknowledging the support of his colleagues and the community. As he embarks on the next chapter of his life, the city bids farewell to an exceptional leader.
