City of Fountain Inn Welcomes New Code Enforcement Officer

April 7, 2025

The City of Fountain Inn is pleased to announce the appointment of John Garrison as the City’s new Code Enforcement Officer. This newly established position is a critical step in ensuring the health, safety, and aesthetic appeal of our community by upholding local codes and ordinances.

With a distinguished career in law enforcement, John Garrison brings a wealth of experience and dedication to public service. Retiring from law enforcement in January 2023, John has served in various capacities, including as a Detective in Florida. His extensive background includes narcotics investigations, K9 handling, training new deputies, and criminal investigations, including fraud prevention and prosecution. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his diligence and commitment to community safety.

As the Code Enforcement Officer, John will oversee inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with city codes, including property maintenance, zoning regulations, and public nuisances. His role includes working with property owners to address violations, issuing citations when necessary, and educating the public on city ordinances. Additionally, he will serve as a resource for residents and business owners, fostering voluntary compliance and community cooperation.

The City encourages residents to familiarize themselves with local codes to help maintain a clean and thriving community. Code details and reminders will be highlighted throughout the year.  Some of the most common violations for residential properties include:

Overgrown lawns and unkempt vegetation
