City of Fountain Inn Welcomes New Recreation Director

The City of Fountain Inn is pleased to announce the appointment of James Rice as the new Recreation Director. With a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to community enrichment, Mr. Rice is set to lead the city’s efforts in providing exceptional recreation services to residents.
Rice brings over two decades of expertise to his new role as the Recreation Director. He holds the designation of Certified Park and Recreation Professional by the National Recreation and Park Association, highlighting his dedication and competence in this field. Mr. Rice holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Communication and Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina-Upstate. He has received numerous awards and certifications, including being a 2020 Leadership Spartanburg Class graduate, a 2016 SC LEAD Graduate, and a Certified Parks Recreation Professional (CPRP).
Prior to his appointment in Fountain Inn, Rice served as the Recreation Manager for the City of Spartanburg Parks & Recreation, where he directed and implemented diverse recreational programs and services. His leadership was instrumental in developing strategic plans that connected communities with valuable programs and services. In addition to his experience in recreation, Rice brings experience from his time as a City of Spartanburg Police Officer.
Rice was appointed at the September Fountain Inn City Council meeting. His extensive experience, dedication, and passion for community well-being make him a valuable addition to our team. We look forward to the positive impact he will undoubtedly bring to our community as we continue to grow.
