City of Georgetown to host ceremonial naming and grand opening for new City Hall campus

The City of Georgetown invites community members to celebrate service, progress and opportunity with two upcoming events marking the opening of its new City Hall campus at 420 South Hazard Street.

First, there will be a building dedication and naming ceremony in honor of Clarence C. Smalls on  Thursday, September 17,  at 4:30 pm, prior to the regularly scheduled  City Council meeting. Earlier this summer, Georgetown City Council unanimously voted to dedicate the main building in honor of Clarence C. Smalls, 96, who served as a City Councilman for nearly three decades and worked as a Georgetown Police Department officer for 27 years. 

Then on the following Tuesday, September 22, at 10:00 am, there will be a ribbon-cutting and grand opening celebration for the entire campus. Featured speakers for the ceremony will include Mayor Jay Doyle, City Administrator Scott Whittier, former City Administrator Dr. Sandra Yudice, and Police Chaplain Rev. Dr. Lorenzo Smalls.

Light refreshments and building tours will be provided for attendees.

Both events will take place at 420 South Hazard Street, Georgetown, SC.  Of note, the main City Hall building faces Hazard Street (also known as Steelworkers Square), with parking available adjacent to the side of that building, accessible from Gilbert Street.
