City of Greer opens Public Safety Training Center
October 1, 2026The City of Greer hosted a grand opening ceremony for its new $16 million Public Safety Training Center, which will support police, fire and emergency medical services in the city and across the Upstate.
The facility includes a 50-yard, 10-lane indoor weapons range with tactical walls on three sides to allow for multidimensional training.
The four-story fire tower has a removable roof designed for rappelling and confined-space training, interior and exterior stairs, and an elevator shaft.
“The opening of the City of Greer’s new Public Safety Training Center is delivering on our promise to make public safety the number one priority in our growing community,” Greer Mayor Rick Danner said. “This strategic investment will allow our first responders to train here at home instead of frequently traveling to other parts of the state at significant expense to the taxpayers.”
The center, built on property that previously housed a fire station and training tower, includes large seminar and classroom spaces, breakout rooms, and storage for large emergency vehicles and equipment, allowing for faster deployment.
