City of Laurens Launches “Friday Night Live”

April 5, 2021

When the work week is over and it’s time to relax there are now more local options to get your weekend started.

Local merchants, working in partnership with the City of Laurens and Main Street Laurens, have created a new initiative designed to provide residents of Laurens County with later, local options for food, shopping, and entertainment.

“We want residents of Laurens and the county to start a new tradition of beginning their weekend right here in Laurens.  And since many of our local businesses have teamed up to stay open later, extend special offers, and provide more reason to stay in town on Friday, we’re asking for the community help build a new nightlife scene,” said Mayor Senn. As the slogan says, “Your weekend starts here!”

So, what does “Friday Night Live” include?  Businesses on the square in downtown Laurens have agreed to extend business hours, restaurants will be offering specials and outside dining and music will be included. Beyond that, the City and Main Street Laurens will be setting up a new gathering area for folks of all ages on the north side of the Historic Courthouse.  Every Friday folks can come downtown and enjoy a shared outdoor dining area, corn hole, giant Jenga, and other games – all free to the public.

If it sounds like the downtown weekend experience of a larger city but without the travel time and traffic, that’s precisely the point.  Laurens businesses are determined to show local residents that you don’t have to head out of town to have a great night out.

So, this Friday when you’re considering your options, head to downtown Laurens and check it out. Keep it local.
