City of Mauldin opens applications for accommodations tax tourism grants

August 26, 2026

Organizations planning local events, cultural initiatives, or capital projects aimed at drawing visitors to Mauldin can now apply for funding support through the city’s Accommodations Tax (ATAX) Grant Program.

The grant initiative allocates revenue generated from lodging taxes to support qualified projects designed to boost local tourism, fill hotel rooms, and attract regional visitors to the Golden Strip.

Under state and local guidelines, funding is available to eligible non-profit organizations for tourism-focused initiatives, including civic and cultural festivals, arts programming, historical marketing, and tourism infrastructure. All submissions must meet specific criteria proving their ability to draw out-of-town visitors and contribute to Mauldin’s broader hospitality economy.

Following the submission window, all proposals will be formally evaluated by the Mauldin Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee. The seven-member advisory panel—primarily composed of local hospitality, lodging, and cultural arts representatives—will review applicant materials before submitting their formal funding recommendations to Mauldin City Council for final review and approval.

Organizations seeking grant support must submit their completed application packet no later than Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Application forms, program requirements, and submission instructions are detailed in the official City of Mauldin Applicant Handbook, available through the city’s Business & Development department.
