November 15, 2021

The City of West Columbia was selected for the second year in a row as the South Carolina Municipal Insurance Trust Risk Management Award (over 150 full and part-time employees) winner for 2021. The City of West Columbia continues to successfully reduce the frequency and severity of losses. The competition criterion consists of the city’s experience modifier and gross (uncapped) loss ratio. The member with the lowest overall score wins.

Deputy City Administrator Michelle Dickerson and Public Works Director and Safety Manager Jamie Hook (pictured below) received an engraved plaque and a $2,500 monetary award at a reception held on November 9, 2021.

Mayor Tem Miles stated, “Our employees work hard every day to deliver unbelievably great services in a safe manner that avoids harm and danger. I am so thankful that they are being recognized for all their efforts.”

Director of Public of Works and Safety Manager Jamie Hook said, “Safety is our top priority. Training and information on safe practices in the workplace help to ensure that everyone goes home safely at the end of the day.”
