City Year Summit & 25th Anniversary Gala Held in Boston

COLUMBIA, SC – City Year Inc.’s 2014 In School & On Track National Leadership Summit presented by Comcast NBC Universal and sponsored by CSX convened national and local leaders from the education, business, government, and philanthropic communities to discuss City Year’s Long-Term Impact Goal — a dramatic increase in the nation’s urban graduation pipeline that will transform the future of thousands of students in America.

Following the National Leadership Summit, Bill Clinton accepted the Legacy Award at City Year’s 25th Anniversary Gala, presented by Bain Capital, at the Boston Symphony Hall. 

City Year Columbia, like all other sites around the CY network, sent a delegation to attend the Boston-based event. The Columbia Delegation consisted of: City Year Executive Director & VP, Dr. Gail Wilson-Giarratano, City Year Impact Director, Alice Curtin Thaxton, City Year Advisory Board Members Dr. Montrio Belton-Urban & Rural Education Institue and Tommy Johnson-Colliers International, Executive Director of Schools at Richland County School District One: Ernest Dupree, Chairman of the Richland County School District One Board: Aaron Bishop, and Richland County School Disctict One Board Member: Jamie Devine.
