Clemson University Foundation elects new board members; announces officers

The Clemson University Foundation board of directors elected five new board members and appointed a new chair and vice chair.

The new chair of the Foundation board is E. Mitchell “Mitch” Norville of Greenville and the new vice chair is Robert B. Hambright of Blowing Rock, North Carolina.

Norville is the owner of Atlantic South Development Inc. He is a 1980 Clemson graduate with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and he has an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.

Hambright is the former CEO and division president of Balfour Beatty Construction. He graduated from Clemson in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and has an MBA from Winthrop University.

The five new members joining the board are:

  • Charles Eldridge Jr. of Greenville, financial consultant and retired Upstate president of BNC Bank;
  • “Aubrey” Harrell of Stone Mountain, Georgia, audit partner at KPMG, LLP, and board member and audit committee chair for Goodwill of North Georgia;
  • Anthony “Tony” Mathis of Issaquah, Washington, is the GE vice president-Aircraft Program at Boeing;
  • Norman F. Pulliam of Spartanburg, chairman emeritus, Pulliam Investment Company; and
  • James “Jay” C. Self of Greenville, president and CEO of Greenwood Mills Inc.
