Clinton Century Club Celebrates 100 Years of Legacy and Community
June 2, 2025The Clinton Century Club commemorated its 100th anniversary last week with a joyful and history-filled celebration held at First Presbyterian Church’s Fellowship Hall.
Current members and several alumni—totaling more than 30 attendees—gathered to honor the organization’s century-long legacy.
The event began with a warm welcome from Club President Lisa Keen, who also recognized the efforts of the Centennial Planning Committee: Jamie Adair, Jenks Howe, and Jane Melara. Guests then raised a toast to the milestone and enjoyed a selection of delightful refreshments, followed by a commemorative group photo.
The program continued with an engaging historical presentation by members Dr. Kendra Hamilton and Dr. Erin McAdams. Their research offered fascinating insights into the club’s journey from its founding in 1925 to the present day. Memorabilia and archival records—many of which have been preserved at Presbyterian College—brought the club’s rich history to life.
The highlight of the afternoon was the unveiling of two time capsules, originally buried by club members in 1975 and 2000. Their contents offered a unique glimpse into the past and sparked memories and conversation among the attendees.
President Keen announced when the club reconvenes in September, members will bring current memorabilia items to be placed in a new time capsule to be opened in 2050 at its 125th Anniversary Celebration.
The event was a fitting tribute to 100 years of camaraderie, community, and civic engagement.
