Clinton Community Garden marks 10 years with Gathering in the Garden party
October 5, 2026The Clinton Community Garden Project will celebrate a decade of service with its Gathering in the Garden party on Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the garden, located at 1118 S. Bell St. in Clinton, across from Friendship AME Church.
The anniversary celebration carries the theme “Growing Together: Celebrating 10 Years of Community,” a nod to the garden’s 10-year history of bringing neighbors together through fresh food, health education, volunteer service and friendship.
“For 10 years, this garden has been about so much more than what we grow,” said Jamie Bates Adair, chair of the Clinton Community Garden Project board of directors. “It has been a place where neighbors meet, learn from each other and serve one another. This celebration is our chance to say thank you to the volunteers, donors and partners who helped make that possible, and to invite the whole community to be part of what comes next.”
The event is free and open to the public. Guests can enjoy free food and live music, door prizes and health screenings, along with special activities for children. Chef Robert Moore will prepare a special dinner for the occasion.
Over the past decade, the garden has served as a gathering place where residents can learn about healthy eating, give their time to a shared project and build connections with their neighbors.
Adair said the evening will also recognize the people and partnerships that have shaped the garden since its founding.
“Our garden has grown because people believed in it,” Adair said. “Whether someone pulled weeds on a Saturday morning, made a donation or helped spread the word, every one of those contributions helped us reach more families. We want to celebrate them and the community we have built together.”
Families are encouraged to attend, and children will find activities planned especially for them throughout the evening.
The Clinton Community Garden Project invites everyone in the community to stop by, celebrate the milestone and learn more about how to get involved in the garden’s next chapter.
