Clinton girls tennis blanks High Point Academy 7-0

Clinton High School’s girls tennis team swept High Point Academy 7-0, dropping just one game across the entire match.

The Red Devils won all five singles matches in straight sets. At No. 1 singles, Libby Dailey defeated Saydie Allen 6-0, 6-0. Addy Derrick topped Taylor Creel 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2, and Abby McMurray beat Kayleigh Glegrove 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3. Merin Orr defeated Catalina Vees 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4, and Kayleigh Lawson closed out the singles slate with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Aushundr Nesbitt at No. 5.

Clinton carried the shutout into doubles play. Dailey and Derrick teamed up to defeat Allen and Creel at No. 1 doubles. Savanna Fountain and Lydia Whitmore handled Audrianna Vees and Olivia Watson 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2.

Clinton returns to the court Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Landrum.
