Clinton High School Golf Team Qualifies for State Championship

The Clinton High School golf team secured their spot in the SCHSL AAA State Golf Championship following an impressive performance on Monday, May 6, at Cherokee Valley Golf Club. Coach Andrew Campbell expressed his pride in the team’s achievement, noting their dedication and skill throughout the season.

“This is a fantastic accomplishment for our team,” said Coach Campbell. “Qualifying for the state championship is a testament to the hard work and talent of these young golfers.”

The AAA State Tournament is scheduled to take place at The Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University in Conway on May 13 and 14. Clinton High School’s golf program has a strong history in the tournament, with the 2024 team marking the third occasion the school has qualified for the AAA State Tournament. Previous appearances were in 2019 and 2023.

In addition to their state qualification, the 2024 Clinton High golf team clinched the Region 4-AAA championship, further showcasing their prowess on the course.

At the AAA Upper State qualifying tournament, Clinton High School’s team score of 340 secured their advancement to the state championship. The team results for AAA Upper State qualifying teams were as follows:

  • Blue Ridge: 296
  • Wren: 297
  • Daniel: 318
  • Walhalla: 330
  • Travellers Rest: 331
  • Powdersville: 336
  • Pendleton: 337
  • Clinton: 340

Individual scores contributing to Clinton’s total included Mia Carles with 80, Aiden Bragg with 82, Gabi Carles with 88, and Luke McMurray with 90.
