Clinton opens 2026 accommodations tax grant cycle for tourism projects

The City of Clinton will open its 2026 Accommodations Tax Grant Program funding cycle Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026, giving local organizations a chance to compete for money that supports tourism in the community.
The program is funded through the state tax collected on overnight accommodations within Clinton city limits. That revenue is returned by the state to the municipality where it was generated, and a portion is distributed each year through a competitive grant program supporting tourism-based projects in the city.
Organizations that attract tourists or provide services for them are encouraged to apply. Grant funds are intended to support events and services tied to tourism and to promote tourism locally. Eligible projects include festivals, concerts and the development of tourist-related facilities.
Organizations awarded funding will be required to use the money for costs associated with marketing their event to people who live outside the local area.
Applications are available at the MS Bailey Municipal Center, 211 N. Broad St., between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., or on the city’s website. Completed applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026. Late applications will be returned to the applicant.
The city’s accommodations tax review committee will review each application, with final approval of grants resting with the Clinton City Council.
