Clinton police department hiring four officers

The City of Clinton Police Department is accepting applications for four police officer positions, the city announced July 30.

Police Chief Michael Addison said the department is looking for people committed to the community, not just to the job.

“We are looking for men and women who want to be part of this community, not just work in it,” Addison said. “The best officers we have are the ones who know the people on their beat by name. If you have a heart for service and a willingness to learn, we can train the rest. These four positions are a chance for someone to build a career right here at home.”

The openings are part of an effort to bring the department to full staffing as it continues serving the growing Clinton community. City officials described the roles as an opportunity for area residents to begin a career in public service close to home.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old and hold a high school diploma or recognized GED. A valid South Carolina driver’s license and a good driving record are also required. The department is looking for candidates with strong communication skills and sound judgment.

The city is offering a benefits package that includes weekly pay, a take-home patrol car, health benefits, paid time off, a retirement plan, life insurance and an employee assistance program. Officers also receive a free YMCA membership.
