Clinton Recreation Complex – Public Discussion

February 1, 2022

Come join us on Wednesday, February 2nd, 5:30 pm at 202 W Main Street in Clinton for a discussion of the Clinton Recreation Complex.

The City purchased property in 2018 and in January 2019 announced development of a Recreation Complex with Phase I composed of baseball fields, multi-purpose fields, trails, and other amenities to be constructed with accommodation and hospitality tax proceeds. Phase II was to include a 3,000-seat amphitheater and 1,000-vehicle parking lot.

Since January 2019 construction contracts have been awarded, a City Manager fired, the planning and design firm fired and replaced, and most recently a $46 million plan presented to Council. The City has also been committed to an $11 million bond, $7.5 million of which are earmarked for the Recreation facility.

The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the information that has been received through FOIA requests and meetings with City representatives, and then identify questions which we would like City Council to answer regarding this project and the path forward.

We believe that engagement of the public is important to the success of projects like this, which is why we are creating this opportunity for the community to gather. If you would like to learn more about the project and/or voice your thoughts and ideas on this complex or the spending of this bond, please come and share!

If you are unable to come to the meeting in-person, feel free to send an email with your thoughts to [email protected].
