Clinton’s Second Saturday Workday Brings Big Impact With Small But Mighty Crew
June 16, 2025While the group of volunteers for Clinton’s Second Saturday Workday on June 14 may have been smaller than in previous months, their efforts proved once again that many hands make for lighter—and meaningful—work.
The dedicated crew spent the morning enhancing the appearance of the downtown area by painting several street light poles, picking up litter throughout the business district, freshening up planters, and weeding around storefronts. The hands-on beautification effort was part of Main Street Clinton’s ongoing commitment to maintaining an inviting and vibrant downtown.
Volunteers noted an unfortunate trend during the clean-up: an excessive number of cigarette butts discarded on sidewalks and streets. While it may seem like a minor offense, cigarette litter detracts from the beauty of downtown and contributes to environmental waste. Community leaders are reminding residents and visitors alike—Clinton’s streets and sidewalks are not your personal ashtray. Everyone is encouraged to properly dispose of smoking materials to help keep the area clean for all to enjoy.
The Second Saturday Workdays are organized to promote civic pride and encourage community involvement. Each event helps move the needle toward a cleaner, more welcoming Clinton—one Saturday at a time.
