Coach Atkinson Honored at South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association Banquet

July 27, 2022

Most of us can remember a coach who had a profound impact on our lives. Coaching our youth in various sports is about more than the sport they are playing.  Much more.

On Saturday, July 24, the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association held their annual banquet and as part of the event, they recognized coach Lee Atkinson for thirty years of commitment and dedication to coaching.

All of Atkinson’s coaching career has been with Laurens County School District 56.  He has coached football and baseball in the past and is currently, the head cross country coach and assistant track coach.

“Coach Atkinson is a tremendous asset to our school, athletic program, and community. He is not only a phenomenal cross country/track coach, but Coach Atkinson is also an even better husband, father, teacher, and role model,” said Johnny Alexander, Athletic Director at Clinton High School. “We are so fortunate to have him represent our district the way he does. I am so proud to be a part of the program he represents. He’s simply amazing.”

Congratulations, Coach Atkinson on a well-deserved recognition.
