Coldwell Banker Caine’s Anderson office honored with South Carolina Historic Preservation Award
June 19, 2025Coldwell Banker Caine announced that its newly renovated Anderson office—located in the former historic U.S. Post Office building at 401 N. Main St.—has been awarded a 2025 South Carolina Historic Preservation Award by the South Carolina Department of Archives and History and Preservation South Carolina.
Presented annually at the Statehouse, the South Carolina Historic Preservation Awards recognize exceptional accomplishments in preserving the state’s architectural and cultural heritage. Coldwell Banker Caine’s project was celebrated yesterday in Columbia for its thoughtful rehabilitation of the 1912 neoclassical building, once Anderson’s central post office, which now serves as a state-of-the-art real estate office while honoring the structure’s original charm and civic significance.
Governor Henry McMaster said, “South Carolina’s history is one of our greatest treasures. It tells the story of who we are and how we got here. Preserving that history is a shared responsibility, and Coldwell Banker Caine has embraced that duty in a meaningful way. By rehabilitating this historic building, they’ve ensured its significance will be safeguarded for generations to come.”
“This project is a perfect reflection of who we are as a company—rooted in community, driven by excellence, and committed to honoring the past while investing in the future,” said Stephen Edgerton, President and CEO of the Caine Companies. “We are deeply honored by this recognition and grateful for the support of our partners, the city of Anderson, and the preservation community throughout this journey.”
In collaboration with historic consultants and local artisans, the building was carefully restored to preserve key architectural features, including its limestone columns, terrazzo flooring, and original woodwork. The transformation maintains the integrity of the historic structure while bringing new energy and functionality to downtown Anderson.
Coldwell Banker Caine officially opened its Anderson office last year. Its investment in the building is part of the company’s continued expansion across the Upstate, deepening its commitment to serve growing communities throughout the region. By revitalizing a beloved local landmark, Coldwell Banker Caine reinforces its dedication to blending innovative real estate services with a strong sense of place and history—particularly in Anderson, where growth and opportunity are on the rise.
