Market Highlights
The Charleston market saw solid leasing activity and absorption to start the year even as inflation-adjusted retail spending trended slightly below the prior year, absorbing 125,394 square feet. Average lease rates flattened, partially the product of inventory limitations as recently delivered properties near full leasing. As the Charleston market’s population remains relatively young, experiential retail remains a headline trend, particularly for older properties. In recent quarters, PickleBar, PickleRage and ParTee Shack have each taken 40,000 square feet or more.
