CHARLESTON, SC – April 10, 2012 – The “Four Corners of Law” just gotbigger as Collins & Lacy, P.C. announced the opening of itsCharleston, S.C. office.
“We are very excited about our new Charleston office. It compliments ourfirm’s commitment to successfully meeting the needs of our clientswhile serving the thriving businesses of the Lowcountry,” said managingshareholder Ellen Adams.
The Charleston office will be home to attorneys who know the Lowcountry, its businesses andits people. Shareholders Tom Bacon, Bennett Crites and Mikell Wyman have worked in theLowcountry legal circuit for years. Eachattorney brings a unique skill set to serve the needs of the businesscommunity.
Tom Bacon (pictured left) has spent seven years practicing solely in workers’ compensation. Tomhas represented large and small businesses, insurance companies anduninsured employers, and he has successfully argued cases to the FullWorkers’ Compensation Commission, Circuit Court and Supreme Court. Afterearning his dual degree in Political Science and History at FurmanUniversity, Tom earned his law degree from the University of SouthCarolina School of Law.
Bennett Crites’ (pictured left) practicefocuses on products liability, premises liability, automobilenegligence, defamation, insurance bad faith and commercial trucking law.Bennett has experience in litigating cases from minor injury towrongful death and catastrophic injury. Super Lawyers® has identifiedBennett as a Rising Star®. He also served as a judicial law clerk tothe Honorable R. Markley Dennis, Jr. and has corporate experience in thefinancial sector. Bennett earned his law degree from the University ofSouth Carolina School of Law and his undergraduate degree in BusinessAdministration from The Citadel.
Mikell Wyman (pictured left) started his 10-year legal career at a small firm working in civil litigation, family law, residential real estate and workers’ compensation defense matters. He later joined a larger firm in its Charleston, South Carolina office to focus his practice solely in the area of workers’ compensation defense. Mikell has developed particular experience in the defense of pulmonary injury/inhalation claims. Mikell graduated from The Citadel with a degree in Political Science and later obtained his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. While in law school, he served as an editor of the South Carolina Environmental Law Journal.
