Colonial Life contributes $2.4 million to community organizations

March 8, 2017

Colonial Life and its employees teamed up to contribute more than $2.4 million across the region last year.

The multi-million-dollar impact came from more than $1.74 million in corporate contributions and nearly $721,000 in employee giving, including the value of 11,100 employee volunteer hours to charitable organizations in 2016.

“Our employees continue to demonstrate their commitment to community service by giving their time, talents and financial resources,” said Colonial Life President and CEO Tim Arnold. “While hundreds of our employees give of themselves to our company-sponsored efforts, they are also very active in their own communities on their own time as well.”

Colonial Life’s corporate social responsibility program focuses on education, health and wellness, and cultural arts. The United Way of the Midlands was the largest single beneficiary of the company’s charitable giving last year. It received more than $410,000 from the company and its employees.

Other major charitable efforts during 2016 included partnering with HomeWorks of America Inc. to rebuild a Columbia woman’s home following the devastating 2015 floods, launching the Midlands Educator Leadership Experience in partnership with Midlands Education & Business Alliance for executives of Richland County School District Two and continuing support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands and St. Andrews Middle School through educational outreach programs.
