Colonial Life contributes $2.4 million to community organizations

Company and employees combine efforts to benefit region’s nonprofits
Colonial Life and its employees teamed up to contribute more than $2.4 million across the region last year.
The multi-million-dollar impact came from more than $1.75 million in corporate contributions and nearly $670,000 in employee giving, including the value of 10,800 employee volunteer hours to charitable organizations in 2015.
“Our employees demonstrate their commitment to community service by giving their time, talents and financial resources,” said Colonial Life President and CEO Tim Arnold. “It’s an important part of our culture and one of the reasons Colonial Life has repeatedly been named one of the best places to work in South Carolina.”
Colonial Life’s corporate social responsibility program focuses on education, health and wellness, and cultural arts. The United Way of the Midlands was the largest single beneficiary of the company’s charitable giving last year. It received more than $417,000 from the company and its employees.
Other major charitable efforts during 2015 included a Strong Schools Grant Program that benefitted teachers and students in Richland School District One, an ongoing reading and mentoring partnership with St. Andrews Middle School and an after-school enrichment program with Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands.
