Columbia Capital Rotary Club installs Little Free Library

September 1, 2021

Columbia Capital Rotary Club installed a Little Free Library at W. A. Perry Middle School this month. This partnership is in conjunction with Richland School District One and the Rotary Foundation.

One of Rotary’s seven Areas of Focus is supporting education and literacy around the world. The Columbia Capital Rotary Club is working to support literacy at home with the installation of this new Little Free Library in our community. This project was made possible by a grant from District 7770 and matching funds by the rotary club.

“Thank you to the Columbia Capital Rotary Club for donating a Free Little Library to W.A. Perry Middle School,” said Dr. Robin Coletrain, principal of W. A. Perry Middle School. “I believe all people are empowered when the opportunity to discover a personally relevant book to read is not limited by time, space, or privilege. This is a welcomed addition to our school community. I can’t wait to see our community continue to be engaged in the love of literacy. ”

“Our Club appreciates the opportunity to support Rotary’s Literacy ‘Area of Focus’ through this Little Free Library project at W. A. Perry Middle School,” said Ben Carlton, immediate past president of Columbia Capital Rotary Club. “We, collectively, and I, personally, hope this small project helps support a love of learning, a passion for exploration, and a spark for imagination for many years to come.”

This Little Free Library will be maintained by the Columbia Capital Rotary Club for future years.
