Columbia College announces new executive leadership

President of Columbia College, Dr. John H. Dozier, announced the appointment of Mechelle English, MA ‘14 as the next Vice President of Development. Mechelle has over 25 years of vast experience in higher education, fundraising, and nonprofit administration, most recently serving as Vice President of Advancement at Aiken Technical College. With a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree from Columbia College, her dynamic professional experience includes major gift strategies, alumni programming, staff mentoring and development, volunteer board engagement, and program construction and implementation, all of which will serve Columbia College well upon her arrival.

Dr. Dozier noted, “The addition of Mechelle English to our team couldn’t have come at a better time. With the consistent momentum of recent years and promising developments on the horizon, her wealth of experience and transformative leadership will undoubtedly guide Columbia College to new heights of academic, financial, and experiential excellence.”

In addition to her extensive career, Mechelle is an active member of professional associations such as CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) and AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals), making a commitment to continue growing and developing as a higher education professional.

Mechelle English will assume the position of Vice President of Development on May 13, 2024.
