Columbia College Senior to be on Katie Couric Show

COLUMBIA, SC—Columbia College senior Emelin Garcia has been named a national finalist for the Scholarship America Dream Award. The winner of the scholarship will be announced on Katie (with Katie Couric) airing Friday, May 23. Local listings show the program airing on WIS-TV at 3:00 p.m.

A graduate of Irmo High School, Emelin is an accomplished scholar and student athlete at Columbia College. Earlier this year, she received the prestigious Dr. Juan Andrade Jr. Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders presented at the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute annual conference held in Chicago. She has also been selected as one of fifteen students to attend the ASPIRE pre-medical program at the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine this summer.
