Columbia Museum of Art Announces the Return of “CMA Chamber Music on Main”

October 14, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC – The Columbia Museum of Art opens its 13th season of “CMA Chamber Music on Main” on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at 7:00 p.m., intimately set in the Museum’s gorgeous DuBose Poston Reception Hall. The fan-favorite, five-concert series returns with world-renowned artistic director and cellist Edward Arron.

“I am incredibly excited to be returning to the Columbia Museum of Art for another year of thrilling chamber music,” says Arron. “As always, the concerts will feature internationally acclaimed artists, including many beloved veterans of the series as well as a number of Columbia debuts. The programs this season comprise a range of compositions spanning nearly 350 years. I look forward to seeing you from the stage!”

For the first concert of the season, the CMA welcomes back two Columbia favorites–violinist Tessa Lark and pianist Jeewon Park–to perform the exquisite and charming Mozart B-flat Trio; the passionate and sublime Schumann d minor Trio; and in between, Lark and Arron will play the epic and transporting Duo for Violin and Cello by Zoltán Kodály.

Arron brings the indispensable art of music to our community in numerous ways throughout the season. He will be conducting a master class at USC and performing a concert for the students at the School of Music. He also hosts an outreach program at the Museum in April, where students from Richland One schools will be treated to works by great composers performed by Arron, on cello, and other guest musicians.

Upcoming concerts in the 2014-2015 season are:
Wednesday, December 10
Tuesday, February 10
Tuesday, March 10
Tuesday, April 28

Season tickets are $170 or $130 for CMA members. Single-concert tickets are available for $40 or $30 for members and $5 for students. All seats are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Happy hour at 6:00 p.m. Concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. Museum shop and galleries open during happy hour.
